We are remote yet accessible, cottages are private and secluded, our Conservancy is filled with wild flowers, native plants and wild pollinators for we support the World Movement towards re-wilding of the planet.
Animals and birds abound, for the Amohela ho Spitskop Conservancy is a true Sanctuary.
The Barn Owls and Giant Eagle Owls visit cottages and grace all the areas of the Conservancy and can be heard from many vantage points at night. This is Nature at its finest, gerbil & rat control without the devastating use of poisons.

The Apothecary lies within the 164 hectare Amohela ho Spitskop Country Retreat & Conservancy – known locally as Spitskop – or in Sotho – Petsana ( The Small Foal). And here you step into the enchanting world of WildFields, where 20 years of dedicated REWILDING has transformed a once neglected landscape into a thriving haven for nature and humans alike.
In 2002 when Allen and I returned to this small farm and that wonderful mountain, we were aghast at the destruction that over farming and present day farming methods had done. It was a quiet sad place, in the evenings sitting outside on what was then a crumbling “veranda” the nights were still, no crickets, no frogs, just……silence….and uncomfortable nothingness kind of stillness. And so the healing began.
